Short made his debut in domestic cricket during the 2011-12 Ryobi One Day Cup against New South Wales in November 2011.

The left-hander could score just 3 runs in that game but took two wickets. Short made his debut in February 2010 for Western Australia in the Futures League.

The 31-year-old’s impressive performances saw him being included in the Western Australian outfit after performing decently in the Imparja Cup in 2009. Short was also named Lord’s Taverners Indigenous Cricketer of the year award in March 2011.

Short made his debut in the Sheffield Shield during the 2016-17 season in first-class cricket on the 17th of November 2016.
