Sachin and Ganguly were arguably, the best Indian openers of all time. In the 50 over format, Dada and Sachin gave many of us some wonderful memories through their opening stands.
Sachin and Sourav were the most successful opening partners in One Day International Cricket. The pair batted between 1996 to 2007 and shared 26 centuries of opening partnerships in ODIs, which is the most in the fifty overs format.
These two opening partners have scored 8227 runs in just 176 innings, and 258 runs were the highest score at the top position. They also have shared 29 fifty runs partnerships.

2. Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara – 20
These two batters would take the game away in the starting overs. Sanga was one of the best wicket-keeper batters of all time. He was a stylish and elegant batter. At the same time, Dilshan was cheeky in his approach.
He used the Dil scoop to good effect to get big runs to his name. These two Lankan openers batted for 108 innings from 2000 to 2015, and they have scored 20 centuries partnerships, and 19 half-century stands at the opening position. Their best partnership was of unbeaten 210* runs.
2. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma – 17
The current Best opening pair for India after Sachin and Sourav is Shikhar and Rohit.
These two players have done well for India. But the Men in Blue are spoilt for options in the form of KL Rahul at the top order, especially in the fifty overs cricket. The current pair of openers, Rohit and Dhawan, stands third in this list.
Rohit Sharma used to bat in the middle order when he started playing for India. But he wasn’t consistent at that position. MS Dhoni allowed Rohit to open, and his career changed from that point.

3. Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden – 16

Amla and De Villiers had played as the opening batsmen in the fifty overs format for South Africa from 2008 to 2018. They had played together as the openers for 45 ODI matches, and they scored 3111 runs in this period.

8. Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar – 12
