The New IPL fantasy league is here and guys, we have some bad news!

If you are one of those people (like us) who wait for the whole year for the IPL to start so you can challenge your friends in the IPL Fantasy League, you’ll not be happy after reading this.

The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) on Friday, March 15 announced Dream11 as an official partner of the Indian Premier League. Which means that Dream11 will not only partner with the IPL but also take over the functioning of IPL’s Fantasy League wing.

Yesterday, the finally unveiled the look of the new IPL Fantasy League format and fans are not happy. to say the least.

Here are few fan reactions from Twitter

As you can see, people are heartbroken with the news, with many demanding the BCCI and the IPL to bring back the old fantasy league format or else they’ll boycott playing altogether.

But why is there such an overwhelming backlash? Let’s find out-

New IPL Fantasy League 2019: Dream 11 crewed up Big Time!

1. No daily transfers:

This time around, there are no 75 subs which you can use throughout the length of the tournament. The new IPL fantasy league 2019 is broken down into 3 rounds. For now, we just have information on the 1st round which will have 8 games in total, from 23rd March to 29th March.

Fantasy players are asked to make a single team for the entire round in one go. Which means you cannot make changes to your side once the round begins. This takes out the thrill of picking and choosing players daily.

2. Bad UI

A lot of people are complaining about the bad user interface of the site, calling it cranky and sluggish. In our experience, it id lag a bit and was a bit slow when we tried to make changes to the side.

3. No clear rules

The reason we are writing this article is that we couldn’t find clear instructions by the new IPL fantasy league explaining what the updated rules are and how are we supposed to change teams during a round. The help articles are not that clear, and not much useful to be honest.

Lack of clear instructions, a bad user interface, and missing features have all resulted in a Twitter backlash where fans are devasted to see their favorite time of the year getting hijacked.

Maybe Dream11 should have done a bit of user testing or polls before making significant changes to the platform. We are sure that this time around, IPL’s viewer engagement is bound to go down as the round system prohibits users to make changes daily and follow every match with great determination.
