1. Albie Morkel – 125 meters
Kicking off our list of the longest sixes in IPL history is Albie Morkel. The former South African bowling all-rounder Albie Morkel has smashed the biggest six of IPL so far. He has hit the longest six of 125 meters, the longest in this cash-rich league tournament.
Morkel achieved this feat against Deccan Charger’s bowler Pragyan Ojha. Morkel played for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the first edition of the IPL 2008 season.
2. Praveen Kumar – 124 meters
It has been seen in the International cricket arena that some fast bowlers have fun with the bat. But unknowingly, they also create a record for their name.
Like Praveen Kumar, the former Indian fast bowler did in his case. Praveen holds the record of the second-longest six in the IPL history.
He has smashed a six of 124 meters, which is the second-longest in IPL. Praveen achieved this feat against the best bowler of the IPL, Lasith Malinga of Mumbai Indians. It is the biggest six hit by an Indian player to date.
The Aussie wicket-keeper batsman was tailor-made for the T20 format. He had an aggressive approach as the opener in the ODI format, and he used that similar process in the T20Is and IPL.
Adam Gilchrist stands third in the list of the batsmen hitting the longest sixes. Gilly had smashed a six of 122 meters.
Gilchrist played for Deccan Chargers in the 2009 edition, and when he achieved this record, he played for the Kings XI Punjab. Adam Gilchrist achieved this feat against RCB bowler Chris Langeveldt.
Next up on our list of the biggest and longest sixes in IPL history is by Robin Uthappa. The current player from the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stands fourth in this list. Uthappa possesses excellent hitting skills.
But sadly, he hasn’t done that consistently to cement his place in the Indian limited-overs side. In the IPL, he has played for KKR and RR.
In the 2010 edition, he played for Kolkata Knight Riders as the opener, and many believe that the opening position is the most suitable spot for Uthappa in the T20 format.
Robbin also smashed the fourth-longest six in the IPL history in that same season. He achieved this feat against his current franchise CSK, where he smashed a huge six of 122 meters against DJ Bravo, who has recently joined the highest wickets tally in the tournament with Lasith Malinga.
The West Indian power-hitter has also smashed the longest six in the tournament. Apart from hitting the mist sixes and scoring the most runs in the Indian Premier League, hitting the longest six is another feather in his big hat.
Chris Gayle was a pure entertainer of cricket, and he participated in all the T20 leagues in the world. The Universal Boss played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2013 season, when he smashed a six of 119 meters against Ashok Dinda, the bowler from Rising Pune Super Giants.
Gayle also achieved the highest individual score of 175* runs against the same team in the IPL.
The Indian southpaw is sixth on this list. Yuvi is the first player for India to smash six sixes in the T20I format. He was also the most expensive player in the IPL for more than one time.
Yuvraj was also involved in India’s greatest triumph of World T20 2007 and ICC World Cup 2011. He has also taken a hat trick in his cash-rich league tournament.
In IPL 2009 season, Yuvi played for Kings XI Punjab as the skipper and smashed a 119 meter six against Albie Morkel of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
The legendary batsman from the Kiwi nation is also present on this list. Ross Taylor is known to be a technically sound batsman in all three formats.
He also played in the Indian Premier League. In the first season of IPL, Ross Taylor played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and smashed the seventh-longest six in the tournament’s history.
Taylor achieved this feat against his countrymen, Jacob Oram, who played for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2008 edition.
He rarely relies on timing. In the title-winning year of the IPL 2016 season, Ben Cutting played the knock of his life for the Orange Army Sunrisers Hyderabad against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
He scored a quickfire 39 runs and allowed SRH to clinch their maiden title. In this process, he also hit a six of 117 meters against Shane Watson, who played for the RCB team.
The former Indian opener and the current mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants, is also on this list. Gautam Gambhir was a terrific opening batsman for India in all three formats.
CSK has won four titles till now, and all have come under MS Dhoni. He stepped down as the skipper in 2022 and passed the baton to Ravindra Jadeja.
Dhoni and Uthappa are the only current playing players in this top ten list. Mahi is the hard hitter of a cricket ball, and he smashes sixes with ease, as he has shown us time and again.
Mahi has hit a six of 115 meters in the IPL 2009 season, where he played against the Kolkata Knight Riders team, and the bowler was from Australia, James Franklin.
